Twitter Tip #8

Find your twitter grade with this useful tool - http://twitter.grader.com/

Enter your username and click Grade.

First you'll see your rank and grade. You'll want your rank to go down and your grade of course to go up.

A nice link allows you to find fellow tweeters in your state and country (hint -- a good place to look for followers).

Your tweet cloud highlights keywords you use a lot in your tweets - use more of your keywords to change this.

Enjoy your Weds.

Twitter tips #7

Just a reminder that you want to make a schedule for when you unfollow folks. I usually try to give them the benefit of the doubt and wait a week or so.

By now hopefully you have a few followers and are getting the hang of things. Now it is decision time. Do you want to use a laser approach or the shotgun approach.

Using the shotgun approach you get as many followers as possible, with no regard if they fit in your target market. The laser approach is when you only want to have followers that are potential customers for you. The big difference is that when doing the laser approach you only want to target prospective buyers. The 'best' way to do this is find get sources that target your market and then review who is following them. Right now it is much easier to use the shot gun approach. Because there are so many people that follow everyone and not just who interests them. But if you work hard the laser approach can work.

Enjoy your Tuesday. Tomorrow we'll talk about finding your twitter grade.

Twitter Tips - 6

Here is an easy way to get a couple of hundred 'leads' for you to follow if you choose.

http://mrtweet.net

After you join they will send you a list of 200 or so potential followers. Visit their profiles and join those that you like.

Also by now you should be following some people that you enjoy reading (that focus on your business). Visit their tweet home page - click on their followers - and start following people that again you would enjoy.

Have a great weekend!

Twitter Tips - 5

This tip will help especially if you want to target your tweets locally.

1. Add your tweeter account to this directory - http://localtweeps.com/
2. Use it to find followers in your zip code. Want to expand a bit then get people with zip codes close to you. You can find a zip code map here - http://maps.huge.info/zip.htm - make sure to click on the map.

Enjoy your Weds.

Twitter Tips - 4

This week we're going to talk about finding followers.

First add yourself to this twitter directory -

http://wefollow.com/

Then look at people that are in your portions of the directory ... after all their followers would hopefully find you relevant as well. Try adding 25 to 50 people.

Monday, April 27, 2009

We'll be continuing our series on Twitter later this week.

Twitter Tips - 3 - How and What to Post

1. Figure out a goal for how many times you want to post in a month. Say that number is 100, then you're going to have to post about 3 times a day. So what do you post?

- A Retweet - this is tweeting another persons tweet that you like. Setup for that is RT @whoeversentit their message. When you retweet the message they may even say thanks.

- A News message - sending a link for something cool that you've seen online.

- A informative message - information you find useful - someone that follows you is bound to find it useful too.

- Answering a question - people have questions all the time, if you know the answer then add your comment.

- A What I'm Doing now message - just what it says.

- A sales pitch

When tweeting you want to use a variety of these types of messages - use the sales pitch very sparingly. If you're following people that you like, how do they post, what types of post are they making during the day.

More next week, till then have a wonderful weekend.

Wednesday, April 22, 2009

Twitter Tips - #2 - The Art of the Unfollow.

Now that you've figured out a good way to keep up with posts, now I want to show you an easy way to unfollow.

1. If you find someone in your conversations that you don't like (which you will), click on their image. That will take you to their page. You will then want to click on the Following button (below their picture). A box will pop up - just click remove.

2. As you start to grow your lists (which we'll talk about in a few days), you'll want to unfollow people that don't follow you (unless of course you're enjoying their conversation). An easy way to do that is to go to Your Twitter Karma. Put in your log in information and click Whack.

You'll then have a list of people you follow and will let you know those who aren't following back. Just click on the little box next to their image. You can filter your results. At the bottom click "Bulk Unfollow"

Enjoy your Weds.

Twitter Tips - #1 Useful software tools for following tweets.

The first thing you've probably noticed about twittering is that it is really hard to use the default interface. There are several different tools you can use to post from your desktop. I've used two and the jury is still out on which one I like the best.

Tweetdeck - http://www.tweetdeck.com/beta/ - you can download it from there.

One of the first things you want to do is to make sure that you have everything backed up (and not just on a disk but on paper as well). Make sure you have a back up of at least the following.

1. Your clients - all their information.
2. Your vendors
3. Your calendar

Make sure for these backups you have one in a safe place, away from your office, put one copy of these in a get-away bag. Something you could pick up quick on your way out of the office.

As promised here are the first steps for making sure that you website is ready for any future changes. We'll be including a ton of different things, like adding video, using social networking and more. We'll work on adding videos to make it as easy as possible for you.

The first step in doing anything right is we want to be able to track how well we're doing. After all if we don't track things then how will we know when we're doing better.

The best way I've found to track things (and we've used them all ) is by using Google Analytics. It is super easy to use and tracks all the things we'll want to track. After all if you think about it don't you think they would include everything they find valuable in ranking your site?

Here is a video that will lead you step by step thru the sign up process.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2785StVvas8

Next you'll want to make sure to add the code to all of your web pages. It's pretty simple to do that and they give good instructions on how to do that within the analytics site. The most important thing is that we want to make sure that the tracking is on all the pages.

Steps for this lesson.
1. Create a google analytics account.
2. Add the tracking code to all of the pages.

That's it - we'll talk next Weds and using analytics.

Tuesday, December 02, 2008

Tomorrow we'll be starting our series on getting your visitors more involved with your website. Every Weds. till we're finished we'll provide you information that will help.

For those of you that have been with us for a while you know that we enjoy computer games. We've recently been beta testing Warhammer Online and I do think it will be a hit - I'm having a blast anyway. The game starts up this weekend and hopefully it will continue to be a ton of fun!!

Enjoy your weekend!

Good morning - hope you week is going well, it is hump day after all... :o)

Something funny I would like to share with you. My niece came home yesterday (she's a sophomore in high school), we were talking like we usually do everyday and she said that all the kids, teachers etc. were talking about the Hadron Collider. So much so in fact that she said that not many people got there work done. I saw a pretty funny article about it this morning and it appears that the world won't end today because they will only be testing sending things in one direction (so they won't be colliding anything for a bit). You can get a few more laughs by checking out this link.
